transferring files/trax from MPC to PC

Im having some trouble transferring sequences/songs from my MPC4000 to my PC.laptop. Essentially, I wanna be able to use the sequences/songs made on the MPC and use them on SONAR 7PE on my laptop. Any ideas on how I could efficiently transfer these files from MPC to PC(Sonar 7PE) with minimal conversions and such and have them play in Sonar7 exactly the same way I recorded on the MPC? Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks!

Nothing special about tracking out. You'll probably get better results though if you track via digital I/O from your 4k.

all i have is the usb connected from my 4k to my laptop. What do i have to do to get midi seq. with the corresponding audiofiles to my laptop so I can sequence them on SONAR 7? Ive tried using aksys and the midi files will open up in sonar but the audiofiles are completely different than what i had recorded on my mpc? any help?

So you're not syncing your mp via midi?...interesting. Most of the audio files should still be intacted just as they were when you sampled or imported them, unless you've truncated or have done some other type of editing to them. In that case, whatever was done during the editing phase is what you should get if you import that file into another app or whatever.

I personally do my editing off-line using soundforge, then transfer the file back to the mp via ak.sys. This method gives me the best means of doing any fine editing where I can see it moreso than dialing it in on the mpc.

just bounce to multitrack... or if you want to keep editing in SONAR, see if the MPC-4000 can export a SMF

first off, i wanna thnk you all for you help thus far! heres my situation....

my mpc is connected to my laptop via usb.
my mpc is also connected to my midi keyboard via midi cable.
my midi keyboard is connected via usb to my computer as well.
so basically, everything is hooked up to my laptop via usb.

heres my dilemma.

im tryin to get everything i recorded on the mpc onto my laptop so i can sequence and edit using SONAR.
my question is, what do i have to transfer from my MPC to my laptop in order for the track to play exactly like how i recorded in my mpc?

ive tried transferring sequences from mpc to sonar but everytime i tried to playback on Sonar, i dont get the sounds that i used on my mpc...HOW DO I GET THESE SOUNDS AND THE SEQUENCES I RECORDED FROM MY MPC TO SONAR?

SMF -- standard midi file.

then run midi out from computer to MPC, set the MIDI channels up properly in sonar.

thats how it works. You MIIIGHT have to break open a manual or 2 to get this done, but that's okay. you know the basics, as described above.

Check out the sonar help files, and the 4000 manual. I have had the same prob, but i just play the audio out of the mpc to my audio interface and into sonar. Don't know if your using PCI sound card or AUDIO INTERFACE. so bout as far as I can go with ya.

http://www.tweakheadz.com/sync_mmc_mtc_smpte.htm. Go near the bottom of the page and check out the middle paragraph titled "Other Methods".

It talks about setting Sonar up to send MTC.

Plus on the frame rate settings for MTC in Sonar, make sure this is set at 30. The mpc doesn't have a 29.97 rate option setting, so 30 will have to do.

Then while in seq mode on the mpc, highlight "Sync Sequence" and hit the orange "window" button. In the Sync In option, set mode for MTC, input midi port and frame rate.

If everything is setup accordingly, you should notice the mpc start and stop along with Sonar.
