32 polyphony??

HELP! SOUNDS MUTING!
Example: sequence with 6 trax: 2 drum loops note-on, 6 pads w/glock hits one shot, 8 pads w/bass hits one shot, FX on 4 pads one shot. Have dble-checkt all mute groups, trimmed all note on/off settings down and tidy in seq edit, all poly/mono settings sorted, midi default/no pads sharing same midi...
PROBLEM: play sequence and trax will suddenly cut-out or mute at random ie. drums mute/cut mid-loop, glock or bass sounds will chop/mute...at will!!!
I thought the MPC1000 was 32 note poly!! At the moment mine is barely five!!
Can't think what i'm doin' wrong if anything...upgraded to OS 1.4, nuthin' in the manual, UK tech-support can't think of anything, neither can the after-sales stars of Sound Control Leeds...

Are the Note values (the midi values) their default values?

As far as I can tell, the reason overlapping loops don't trigger is due to the first sounds Note Off message prematurely ending the second sound.

You can test this effect by using 16 levels with a longer length loop and Note On mode of play. If you start playing a longer loop with one pad, then begin playing the loop with another pad - in 16 levels. Lifting off a single pad will end both loops playing. The pads share the same MIDI note, so the Note Off message will end both loops.

I have exactly the same. I have a pattern with seven tracks, all consisting
of recyled loops. All samples from 1 loop are set to mono and placed in a mute group so they shouldn't take more then one voice per loop i.e. seven voices for the total pattern. But then when i add one track with a long pad sample (set to mono, no mute group) it cuts off at random times. When any two tracks from the pattern are muted, the pad doesn't cutoff anymore. So it looks like there is note stealing going on
