How would I sample with a microphone? It has no XLR plugs on the back of the MPC

You need a preamp, G.....I have a Bellari tube pre that I got pretty cheap and sounds amazing...just a recommendation. Okay, more like a full on ad. Bellari rules.

Make the sample Mono - no need to duplicate channels and waste memory.
There's no quick way to do this in the MPC, use a wave editor.
Next time, select Mode: Mono in Record mode so you only sample the left channel.

Yep, like stereoroid said, make it mono.

But you'll want to throw away the right channel instead of mixing it in with the left. If you're wave editor has the option to set the pan of the track when going stereo->mono, pan it all the way to the left. Or if the editor has an extract channel tool, just extract the left channel.

Doing so won't mix any noise you recorded on the right channel into the left.
