hi bleepfreak,

I just did a 35kb file off the HD and CD no probs ,does it do it with all files under 130kb?

Hi reveal,

yes it does unfortunately. well as a matter of fact it does with all files smaller than 129kb. Also I cannot play my old projects because I have similar problems with files loaded into memory. I only hear crackles and spikes. Reloading OS 1.51 solved all the problems so it must be somehow OS 1.51t related. Good to hear for you that it works fine for you... but damn I am disappointed, as you can imagine.

lo krush

to make the noise level of the unit lower,by spinning down hd when not needed.
If find i dont really notice HD noise much, unless ya have a 7,200rpm HD installed.

no spin means the HD stops spinning. Like in sleep mode. so it won't raise your noise level when you are recording audio with a microphone in the same room as the MPC e.g. or when you work with classical musicians wo have very sensitive hearing when it comes to these kind of things (I have had these kind of problems with these kind of musicians before, when UI was working as a sampler technician during an opera, for real)

Mailed Akai this morning

I just loaded some samples and a program via ak.sys, both with more than 20 characters in the filenames.

the 4k truncates the first 16 characters and adds two characters after the truncation.
i.e- 12345678901234567890aabikkeb.akp

becomes

1234567890123456...bd.akp

havnt had probs with this..

it doesnt make sence.. have you tried too:
-disconnect the HD's (IDE, SCSI, cdrom etc)
-turned on the MPC too check everything is ok
-turn off the MPC and switch him back on
-start the OS loader on your pc (MPC must be connected too USB), load OS1.51t
-Wait a few minutes...
-when its done, turn MPC back off and on
-test it
-reconnect your HD's etc..
-test again

?

why disconnect the HD/CDrom? How should that help me? Everything is fine in OS 1.51 as I mentionned. When I reload 1.51 everything is back to normal. I can also play my sequences again etc.

hey BF,

what was your system clock set at?96k samples?,i hanvnt tested anything at 96k yet.
also i used the initial key in the gobal page to initialize all parameters to factory settings before installing...

my thoughts...
after one dayz use it seems to be running better than 1.51 with all the bug fixes and new features ,the FX sound are loads better now,the slice sample imrovments are dope, and i couldnt notice any timming issues with reset qlinks turn on,audition from disk is cool, the auto-selection program and sample improvements make things a lot quicker, midi sync seems better but its hard to tell same goes for Lfo desync improvements, spin down hd is welcome etc..,its all good,
only prob ive had is a lock up for about 20secs when scolling through the FX lists while the sequencer was playin, apart from that its running smooth for me.

Nope, 44.1 k. And yup initialised also. Thanks for your help here by the way. highly appreciate it.

Unfortunately problems keep on rising here. Samples do not show a waveform in sample edit mode and I cannot playback any of my sequences or songs because I hear nothing but clrackles and squeecks. Normally I like sounds like that but not when they are not intentionally put there :)

:( damn. I am mailing akai now to ask what might be wrong with my machine.
