I've never had that problem and I really can't work out why you are... and I have thought about it.
You definitely triple-checked, in the slider page, that the q-link is assigned to the pad and not the whole track? I'm sure you have, but I can't think of anything else.
I know that going into the slider page, changing the q-link to 'real time/note on' and hitting a pad does not assign that q-link to that pad. It keeps that q-link affecting the whole track.
In the 'slider' screen you have to put the cursor on the top of 'target' and then hit your pad, otherwise it stays as 'track' which effects your whole track.I'm not at my mpc right now, but that's what I remember.
