Hey yall...
im bout to throw my Mpc, midi board, computer, myself, out the window.

I am trying to make a song on my mpc then be able to transfer it via usb cord to my pc so i can master it and sequence it in sonar. How would i go about doing this? Keep in my mind that the only way i can transfer files is via ak.sys.

If you have AKAI.sys working you can drag and drop the entire folder to your PC. What exactly is not working for you?

Yo whats up everyone. this is my first post eventho ive been on the mpcs for years. check me out at myspace.com/loopwhole1
anyways.
heres a dope tip for doing tasks that require you to drag files between the 4000 and the cpu, seeing that aksys never works for me.
get flash drive.
stick it in the front usb of your mpc
save the info to your flash (or digital camera with a sd card in it in my case cause im poor) lol
plug the device in your cpu
load it.
easy.
AKAISYS OR WHATEVER IS BOGUS, IT LOCKS UP AFTER LIKE TEN MINUTES. JUNK
PEACE.

do you have the latest version of akaisys, USB drivers, and os for the 4k? if you are not sure it'd be wise to double check that out but good info none the less

First, welcome to the boards. Now I find that hard to believe that ak.sys gives you that much grief. You might want to check your pc's hardware specs or see if there's something conflicting that's causing this.

It's def all good in my book. I enjoy using it to speed up my editing and whatnot, and haven't experienced it to any degree where it didn't function properly or complete a task.

Same here aksys along with a good audio editor like say Peak Bias on my Mac is very useful for editing end points, setting regions via convert markers, setting loop points, timestretching, eqing, adding effects, normalizing you name it.

Like the others stated it is important to get the right driver for your computer and a fast computer too. I had a few issues back a few yrs ago with my Mac G4 and I almost gave up on aksys. But I downloaded a newer version for my OS and I got a newer computer too and no problems smooth as silk.

thanks for the welcome..i enjoy these forums for many years and it has provided me much information..from the mpc2000 all the way up to today...maybey i will be try to reinstall the drivers and the whole aksys. folder again. i just got a new computer, i didnt have the money to get a mac, so i got vista...(i know, i know) and it was malfunctioning on my old cpu aswell. i dotn even know. the features are definetly dope dont get me wrong, i just never got it to function properly. it usually works for like minor tasks, but anything major like dragging and dropping whole sample discs, it loads like a few samples and then a error message comes up saying that the mpc4000 was unplugged. but it wasnt..this is the main problem.
