Compatible Hard Drive for MPC 4000

Hello. I've just bought MPC 4000. It is being shipped to me right now. I'm owner of MPC1000 and my experience with MPCs is something about 3-4 months. My 4000 will come without CD-ROM and without hard drive. I'm wondering what hard drives are the best for the machine. I have 120GB HDD installed in my MPC1000, but I'm planning to sell it as a fully maxed. Would this HDD work with MPC 4000 ?

It sounds like you got an LE version of the 4k. But to be honest, Akai went with cheap 3.5" IBM deskstar HD's for the record, then stated on their website that Seagate HD's are what they'd suggest be used for the replacement/upgrade.

Basically at this point, any brand will do, but it's the quality of the drive that one should really be on the lookout for.
So I'm going to upgrade mine to double it's capacity at some point in the near future, providing I don't get too lazy.

Ah, ok. It's blue so it's Plus. Anyway it was only Plus model available on eBay as I saw so far. I've 272MB RAM and I can add HDD and CD-ROM. So I took this one.
On Akaipro it says it comes with 80gb HDD and CD drive so maybe my seller didn't included it.

Dude! See if you can return it, get the white mpc 4000, had brand new blue 4000 plus, have many problems with the unit, kept getting fatal error msg and it finally die on me... Now have white 4000 studio d with 80g for seven months now and never had a problem... love the machine!!!!
