Pro Tools Digi 001 and Mpc 2000xl... the proper connection..

what is the best way to hook these two up.... 1/4' cables, midi cables... any help would be great.

for example i once tried to record sound from the mpc directly into digi 001 via 1/4's cables... i tried getting sounds to come in and out.. something was being registered on the meters but.... i guess there's some sort of way configure this in the aux/sends and line inputs and outputs in the mixer section of pt.
any help would be amazing!

Connect the MPC's outputs to the Digi001's or your mixer's imputs. Use 1/4" cables. They provide the audio.

Connect you midi outs and in from the MPC to the Digi001 or your midi interface. They provide to midi note information, but no sounds.

You will need to decide how and if you wanna sync your MPC and Digi001 for recording.
You can use either Midi Time Code (MTC) or Midi Beat Clock.

I would just use midi, I figure you have more than 8 tracks you
want to record. That way you can separate your tracks/
record them all at the same time. Then bus
each output of the midi tracks into individual audio tracks for mixing.

... Sounds simple, but make sure you have Pro Tools outs hooked up to either your speakers or headphones. Otherwise, well, you won't hear anything.

Also, for you experts, which is better sound quality wise -- using MIDI or straight 1/4" audio? I have not used the midi set up yet. Any help works. Uno.
