I'm interested in getting this filter module, but I don't know enough people thouhg who have used it. I was just wondering if any of you had any good stories, or horror stories, of using this product. Also - would it be able to mute out drum sounds from old recordings? If not, is there any good way of getting rid of the drum sounds from a track?

I'm afraid that in the case of your drums on yoru track, all you can do is try and eq them out, which won't work entirely and will eq out sounds in your desired sound too.
There really is no effect that would be on the add on board that would do this.
I may be wrong.

That's the AKAI filter module right?

if it is - dude it's phat. My friend has one.
Meeeeeaan distortion - resonance filter will never peak - smooth and solid sound - LFO's are great. It's dropped alot in price too. I reckon it's worth it - however if your studio is still pretty basic, it's a very specialised piece of equipment. Perhaps the same money might buy you something more versatile.

I love the MFC42. I got mine for $200 on ebay and it turned out to be new in the box :D . If you are making any kind of electronic music(dn'b, house, breaks..etc) you will definitely love the ish out of this thing. It sounds excellent and all knob moves/ parameter changes will write to midi on your MPC........killer!!! :)
