so i will only be djing now... and all production work i can do in ableton. mpc is taking up room although i will miss this baby

some things changed, and i got a new piece, so i wanted to post some new pictures.

i just bought a sequential circuits studio 440. it's the second time i've had one, and i missed it immediately after i sold my first one.
they're rare, but it was worth digging up another.

it was released in 1987, and predates both the mpc 60 and sp 1200. it's a 12 bit sampler, with true analog filters. 512k of fixed memory, sampling at up to 48kHz.
it sounds very warm, and the filters add a lot, especially if you want to overdrive the inputs when recording.
it's sequencer is similar in idea (but not application) to the mpc series, and it has comprehensive modulation and envelope editing.
it has scsi as standard (but required a third party os update to be compatible with a zip drive), and had the option
of using the pads as sequencer track mutes well before anyone else.

i bought it from asia (us power) and it took longer to travel from jfk to my apartment in manhattan, then it did to travel from korea to jfk. no customs problems, though...

Hifidesign, is that a tablet you are using with your mac? What is it and does it work well with a DAW?

yes, it's a wacom tablet (9 X 12). it works with any software, as a substitution for a mouse. I use it for everything, especially for my daw. I highly recommend them. They're more precise than a mouse, and the angle of your wrist while you're working is much better for your muscles and nerves (beware carpel tunnel...).

I just moved so I have a full room to set up my gear.I also added some new stuff: New DAW(Sonar 8 Producer Edition), New PC(2.83 GHz Core 2 Quad,EP45-DS3R Mother Board 2GB ram,2 sata 500GB drives), new interface(M-Audio ProFire 610), new controller(Frontier Alphatrack), Dual Monitor set-up, and tons more vinyl.Everything else I've had.

i'm using sonar 7 producer edition and i think it the shyt!!!!

i really don't know why more people aint fukin with it, its fukin solid to me.
