MPC 2000 Note Variation Slider Problem/Query

Hey All,

First time poster and first couple of days MPC user

Been an admirer from afar for a long time and finally jumped a 2000 last week.
However I seem to be having trouble utilizing the Note Variation slider. I've followed the manual and I seem to be getting fixed values for whatever I assign, meaning that the assignment works fine but the slider has no effect.
Is this a common problem? Am I possibly doing something wrong?

I'm not letting this little problem get me any less excited about finally owning one of these but I'd sure be glad to find out i'm just being an idiot and operating it incorrectly rather than figuring out that I need to get it fixed...

any help would be much much appreciated!

it doesnt change the properties in real time if thats what you want to do. move the slider hit the pad and get one thing. move it and hit the pad again and its different. thats how it works. like in tuning mode. you cant hit the pad and then move the slider to pitch bend the sound thats playing.

/\ I didn't understand the problem until your response. It's not a problem it's doing what it's supposed to do; vary the note by sliding it.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies but sadly my problem is that the slider has no effect whatsoever on the sounds being played. I know it doesn't do real time changes on a played note but sets the value before you play it. It just has no effect whatsoever.
Are there ant parameters maybe that I need to set in the program or somewhere outside of the Note Variation screen to enable this, or is my slider just f**ked?

There is a way on the XL to check the pads, jog wheel, memory and slider to see if it is operational... http://www.mpc2000xl.com/secret.htm

But I don't know if this will work for the straight 2000.

Does anyone know of a way to do a similar thing on the 2000?
