thinking of getting an mpc 1000..

ok so i want to get an mpc 1000 for christmas. and what i really need to know is if you NEED turntables or records in order to sample, and if so is there an mpc that you can use cd's or mp3s?

sample anything u want , DVD players, cd players, mp3's , songs from websites.etc......as long as u have the proper cords the world is urs

really?!

what cords do i need? do most come with the mpc itself?

chords sold seperately. basically, with a mpc, you can sample just about anything that has audio outputs or a headphone jack. the possibilities are endless.

alright so i just got my mpc 1000

it came with the power cable nothing else

i do have extra midi cables that i connected straight from the mpc to my macbook

thing is im not hearing ANY sound coming from either my mpc nor macbook

what am i doing wrong?

Without trying to sound like too much of a d*ck you are failing to spend time with the manual.

MIDI does not transmit audio, if all you have is your MIDI cables connected you will only be able to transmit MIDI data back and forth. No audio.

so i have to read the whole damn thing, ****. lol

alright i know i still can't get sound, considering i don't have headphones. BUT how come i can't load mp3 or m4a files?

you need what is commonly known as a right and left jack cable to sample from your pc's headphone out socket or a turntable or dvd or anything that has a audio out socket (but generally you'll need and amp to power the sound out of the tt.) its two big heaedphone style like youd plug in from an electric guitar to your amp etc..the jacks go into record right and left at the very far right \(your right ) at the rear of the mpc...for now id say forget about midi just start recording things into the mpc and practice chopping them up into beat by beat slices...use the tap tempo to find the bpm of you sample and then chop into slices then it will place each audio hit or beat of your sample onto one pad in a chongrapic scale then play them.....you'll get it mate...your right at the start of ur journey and it will take some head scratching but be asuured you will get it and in 6 months it will be like brushing your teeth....do yuoself a favour though and use the search function on this site as people dont tollerate simple questions that you could answer your self with a bit of searching on here and on google...welcome to the MPC...also and belive me get the jjoperating system and try it its free to download and you drag and drop it from pc to mpc via usb into the mpc then it will load and your learning curve will get a lot less steep...good luck
