s900 + mpc3000

so i ve got ahold of a 900. got it slaved to the 3k and figured most things out but cant seem to figure out why there are separate left and right outs when its a mono sampler? i know the input is mono so whats the deal? (or is it stereo and only output mono?) i tried sampling in stereo and mono but only the left out works. if i want to sample the 900 into the 3k, can i just let the source(turntable) play thru the 900 and sample or do i need to sample on the 900 first to get the 12 bit sampled sound? meaning, what i hear thru the monitor on the 900 is already 12 bit or its not, until its actually been sampled? thanks in advance

Hiya, we have an s900 in our little studio. You can't sample in stereo with it but what you can do is assign a keygroup or drum sound to either the left output or the right output. I like to use the individual 8 outputs for sounds and send each to the mixer to create a stereo mix there... the left and right outputs are really pretty much the same, cept ther'e two not eight. That's how I got it anyway.

The manual is online at akaipro if you need it - but I would get the s950 one too if you don't have it cos it is pretty much the same and easier to understand.

Simply monitoring the input from your turntable does not give you the 12bit sound. Sampling the source will..
