Leaving my 1k for an MV8000. Need counseling.

well its done. and here's my one massive complaint: No "play to" "play from" etc. when chopping samples. what a pain in the ass. roland/akai sample library importing is ILL however. Oh.. .also no "whole" mode for editing patches. Wanna change the filter cutoff globally? Be ready to hunker down for an extreme wheel-twirling session.

By the way, I think my mpc got pissed. MY ENTIRE CF CARD GOT CORRUPTED ON THE DAY I GOT THIS! For real! My advice is to leave well-enough alone if you're mpc is prone to envy.

Anyone had any luck fixing this sorta thing? I've tried a zillion 'data recovery' apps to no avail. All they find are some jpegs that were floating around on the thing.

for real. granted the mv does have some patch(program)-global offsets for freq cut-off etc, but they're way limited. i may have to hold on to the mpc and just be ashamed at myself for the excess during unemployment.

The MV8000 IS nice, very easy to use. I have the VGA and the monitor but never use it. I went from a 6O to that and never regreted the move, nor do I miss the 60. Its seriously the sh*T

You should learn the MV before typing, of course it has that function.

Wow... I see that your 1k only went for $625. Not knocking you, it just pisses me off that I have put so much into my 1k and the thing is worth less than I paid for it. Yours had the new pads and JJ os2. I got my 1k about a year and a half ago for $650. Of course I have upgraded the pads twice as the OS of course. I guess the good thing is that I will never be tempted to sell my Mp... Someone got a hell of a deal.

At least I'll be able to get another one on the cheap when i'm employed again.... but yeah, someone is really making out like a bandit... of course the mv loaded i got was 6 (which if you've got an mpc is good news, b/c they're not dropping in value nearly as bad as the mv's).

far as i can tell its a color screen on the 8800 and a new os update. everything else is exactly the same. they may have added a faster, bigger, HD actually....

Paid $375 for a 3 month old black 1k to mod out.
Paid $950 for a backup 4k with 8 outs.
Paid $100 for a 500 for moble fun.
Passed on a 2500 for $650.
Passed on a second MV8800 for $900

Just looks like a lot of people credit card bills are due.

And yeah, the MV is nice. I always read it was a **** to learn but everything has been really easy for me so far. Things built like a tank.

Anyone with an mv8000 can tell me if their midi input get's pitched up an octave?

If i play the mv8000 with an external device my notes play 1 octave higher on the mv8000.
C1 plays C2.
It even does this with a midi file i imported from cubase.
