I don't know about that future. People have been saying that for a long time now..and we still have sampling workstations being produced: MPCs, MVs, Fantoms, M3s, Motifs, etc.....

Plus....I own/owned plenty of software samplers: Giga Studio(company went out of business), Emulator X, Kontakt 3 (sold that..crashed too much), Mach Five, Battery 3...none of those are as stable as any piece of the current hardware samplers....

Yeah you are right about sampling workstations being produced and for a time to come for live productions and hands on feel no doubt..

But whether you owned or collected software (I have no problems will my plugins running on a Mac with Logic Studio) you should check your system setup jah no crashes like i said before it comes down to the individuals and their mastery of their gear.

Three words = SOUND LIBRARIES, MIDI, and INTEGRATION. Software samplers are the future in all expects.

With my 4k as the main sequencer and drum module too with my DAW and expanded libraries the SKY is the Limit.

Good SAMPLES, Fresh SAMPLES, Amazing SAMPLES beyond just PHRASES without them a hardware units or moot.

My needs boil down to samples.

Alot of users seek out the workstation sampler units regardless if they have access to add new sounds or not, and most will never learn to program so they will grow tired of the presets like a gang of folks did with the Triton series.

As true as that is, it could be said about any workstation, BUT, for some reason it's always the Triton, lol.

Those people suck for not learning how to program. It's just as capable as anything else out there.

So Very true got to get those samples and build new programs along with layering into combinations and knob tweaking with beautiful effects.

Damn I had to take most of the things I said about the build quality of the MV back.
Yesterday my F Button straight fell into the MV?! I wasn`t hammering on it or anything.

So I checked MV Nation and it seems to be very common for the buttons on the mv to break and fall into the casing like that. (since they are just glued to the case?!!)
I was like WTF?

I bought the MV 3 months ago (brandnew!) and was gentle on it like I always em (on every drum-machine I`ve owned no beating or hammering the pads or buttons.)

This is ridicolus a 2000$ machine with the buttons glued to the case and breaking easy like that during normal usage.
**** that!!
(You also can`t just glue the button back on since it`s a set of buttons in on piece)

Plus you have to take the mainboards (basically the whole components apart to reach the top-panel buttons) it takes 1 1/2 hours to take all the components apart and reach that **** according to roland .
I opened a couple of devices and MPC`s to fix this and that. But I was schocked after I`ve opened the MV cause it`s obviously not an cakewalk to get this managed.
I almost like(d) everything on the MV but this is unacceptable.

So everone who is considering to purchase The MV please have in mind that this is not an individual case but rather common on the MV Buttons (see MV nation)
It seemed like those buttons who didn`t broke was those who wasn`t used at all (VGA/mouse working) lol

P.S. Yes I have the warranty and can have roland to send me those buttons but I have to take the whole machine apart (believe me It is not as easy as it sounds to be) + It can happen again and I`m without gear for days now(hopefully just days) lol.

I mean common the **** was new and it breaks down like that after 3 months cause the buttons on it are crappy in general?

P.S. must be pretty fun when playing live and your **** button breaks down on you and fall into the casing.

OS 1.70 vs OS 1.02. I wonder if that statment will hold when we are comparing OS 1.70 and OS 1.70?

I didn't intend on collecting software. I just purchase what looks new and exciting and then discover that the software doesn't perform as well as advertised. I build computers. When I do get a new software platform, I make sure that I get the recommended system specs and typically go beyond that. But all those programs I mentioned had numerous bus. This has nothing to do about mastering anything. They have their own respective forums. If you care to look, you will most likely find my threads/posts talking about different issues. The problem with software, you have to deal with the software company and the company that makes the operating system you are running on your PC/Mac.

This is why dedicated hardware is not going anywhere. That is why Akai are still dropping MPCs and Roland and Roger Linn are about to drop their new versions of the MPC. I am not saying that software is useless (unless you try to resale it). I would just never give up an MPC or keyboard workstation to use software. Sound libraries, MIDI, and integration is exactly what you get with these workstations. If you want fresh and new sounds for a keyboard workstation....you can program your own or simply by the same sample libraries used in software samplers.

Interesting I don`t build computers but my Macs work just fine. I understand you like to buy and try whatever applications and hardware comes out who doesn`t but at the end of the day. What is most important is what SOUND LIBRARIES you either collected or have access to concerning about SAMPLERS.

I would never just up a mpc either but we have to realize it is what it is.

Controller=Pads and Knobs

Sequencer=speaks for itself as one of the best and most user friendly in the world

Sampler=In the 4k`s case full feature for multisampling and drum/Phrase keygroups.

But the third party libraries for the MPC series is limited and hard to fine as the software sampler revolution killed off alot of the supply for it. The 4k multi sample stock sound CD and the basic 5k drum kits and phrase loop stock CD is great also, but sound libraries for software are always updated and easy to buy and layer for that matter.
multsample

Hence I use the best of both world get the greatest multsamples and the my favorite workstation for controller and sequencing..
