mpc 2500 preamp

is good or not? have you compared it with other preamps? i haven't other preamps for the moments.. so is necessarily good but i'm curious to know more about that

if you're refering to a turntable pre-amp, the 2500 doesn't have one.

It's not a pre-amp, it is line level input. It sounds fine and has a low signal to noise ratio. You won't want to record turn tables or other low output level signals without a pre-amp.

line means line level. bass, guitar needs HiZ or DI box, MIC needs pre.

Emancipator recorded electric guitar straight into my MPC1000's inputs (same as 2500) with no amp one time. i don't know much about electric guitars but it must have been pumping out a pretty strong line level

For the OP, I'll give my opinion here-- The MPC2500 (and 1000) have strong and clean preamps, at least when compared to the weak built in preamps of similar hardware I've used. Better than a Triton, Boss SP-505, and MPC500. These other machines will have lower volumes and more hiss.

I've gotten away with recording some very dry electric guitar sounds, or vocals with a (fairly responsive) dynamic mic going straight in. For anything other than a scratch track, you would probably want to use an external preamp (or DI for guitar). I have one of those little ART preamps which does both really well for the size/money.
