Best Turntable, Cartridge, and Mixer

I am just wondering what is the best turntable, cartridge, and mixer used to sample vinyl into an MPC? Also, is it possible to sample vinyl into an MPC1000? Hope u guys can help. Thanks yall!

well from what i know is that it really does not matter what turntable u use as long it is direct drive and u could sample into the mpc1k cartridge does not matter ether but i think u should get some good ones at least so the sound comes out better and for a mixer im not sure if ur talkin about a dj mixer or what

I would go with an ortofon for that application, but for scratching.. shure 44-7's. As for the turntables, I prefer vestax pdx2000's but tech's are good too. My favorite mixer is the Rane 56.

why strictly direct drive? i got a belt driven, works fine

if u aint scrtachtin mess wit a cart over $150 like the upper level orotfons. They make carts that are for audiophiles and sampling that are over a grand. I have shure m447's but i scratch a lot. i still get good sounds outta em. its also about ur mixer and eqs on it that is a big factor. and for table i scratch so i got direct drives but a belt will do fine if ur sampling. no need for a technique. I really like the stanton str8-80s. i own a pair and i love em.

I made da first post here. Askin which is da best turntable, mixer, n cartridge. Scratch dat. My cuzin is givin me his turntable. The Gemini 2000's. Which is real coo on his part. Now i'm wonderin, wut i will need to sample vinyl records into an MPC2000xl. I want really good sound quality. Any suggestions on wut cartridge to get to get really good sound quality? In one of da relies, one of yall said to get a belt driven turntable. I ain't sure exactly wut dat is cuz I never used turntables in my life. So please help me out yall. Thanks!

im nost sayin strictly direct drive but if u are goin to scratch then u should get direct drive. but its all on u at the end what ever makes u happy and u feel that is right for u

I use the Ortofon Nightclub. Great for scratching. A little prcey though but worth it.

You can easily pick up a dj mixer for under $200.

technic 1200/M44-7/rolls v29 pre/no mixer cuz mixin' is a dyin' fad.

just kidding, i don't scratch or play others music.

i got a gemini xl-500 turntable and an ortofon cartridge but what's the best way to hook it up to the MPC?

it needs to go through an amp right?
i got a stereo amp that i can use, it has the connections for a turntable, but where can i put the earth wire??

You can ground it to the frame of the amp if the amp has a 3 prong power cord. That way you know the whole amp is grounded.
If your amp is a receiver/amp, you can use the tape outs to connect to your MPC's record ins.

ok i understand about grounding using the frame of the amp, it does have a three prong power cord.


but i dont think i have any tape outs.

basically, the amp is part of a stereo system. at the bottom i have two tape decks, then an equaliser, then the "amp" section which has a microphone input and headphones jack. those three are all attached together as one unit. then i have, separately, a tuner, a CD player (connected to the amp via phono leads), and a broken turntable (which is connected to the amp via the phono leads, and has a 3rd lead going to the amp).


i was thinking perhaps i could just use the headphones output into the MPC record ins
