So 7 1 4, your saying the HS80's has an overall frequency ??? When I do music would like to hear good bass but also high and mids too.

Yeah they do have a Overall Frequency but your saying it's only 42Hz for the Low End when it's 42Hz-20Khz for Low End & Overall Frequency.
Ah I think everybody likes to hear there High's & Mid's when there mixing too kind of a no brainer there.

I see your point. When I make beats or should I say music I want to hear a good mix and that is hearing the high mids & low. I definitely wanna hear nice bottom(bass) of my beats of course but not to neglect the higs and mids too. I'm a little weird like that at times and I think that's what happens when I intern at recording studios back in the day.

May have to re-consider getting the HS80'S for a better response and mixes.

I will say I would probably get a Sub if I was in a treated studio and could bump the shit at what ever level I want. But for your home the Sub is definitely kind of overkill.

I don't think a sub is necessary with an 8" driver. With my RP8's, the lows play just fine. But if you play really low bass, like on some Lil's Jon shyt, you may need the sub because at those frequencies, it's hard to tell if you got the bass in the proper key below a certain frequency. If you're gonna get a sub, I'd say get at least a 12".

Red Axiom? Woot, where did you get it?

Picked it up at Guitar Center. It's a limited edition 49 key. The LE 25 key is yellow. Real nice too!

I love mine too. Just turned them on

It was either Yamaha HS80's or Mackie HR828 MKII's but for the price I liked the Yamaha's better got them with the GC Warranty for $670 out the door.

I'm trying to decide between those 2 right now. well the HS80's and the Hr628 (8's are alittle pricey unless I can find a good deal)
I always wanted the Yammies cuz of all the positive feedback and I thought they would compliment the iMac so well!!
And you jsut proved me right 7 1 4!!

I think for style purposes ( I know i'm vain) a iMac, HS80's and a ProjectMix IO with a MPC2500LE would look clean as hell!!!!

those mackies are sexy as fuk tho!!

also thinking about a pair of hr8/hr6 with a ONYX 400f interface

like most ppl at first I went the cheap route on monitors and interface, so now I am trying to upgrade to a nice signal path, good monitoring and excellent converters/pre amps

Ive finally decided get myself in gear, after seeing the thread on building a studio and seeing pounds custom desk. Im moving out of my apt and in with some friends (me and my girl called it quits about two mths ago) i went and REcustomize mine, took a few inches off of the width replaced the back and false back, gave it a fresh paint job and re did the wires (which can be seen Here
i also took the extra shelf i had and redid it. i wanted to see the finish product before i moved out (from dec 19 to end of feb)
here is what the old desk looked like
