mpc 4000 and motif 6 "classic"

Im trying to just get these synced up. I want to be able to play the motifs sounds into the mpc as midi and do the drums in the mpc. right now ive just got it set up where i have midi in and out to both of em.. not working help me out

So you want to control the motif sounds from the mpc, am I correct? If so, you'll need to disconnect the midi out from the motif going to the midi in on the mpc.

And I'll tell you why a little later. But if you don't know how to manuver within the 4k itself, please let us know that too.

Hey, that's strange. I'm just now getting a Motif6 in my setup and I'm going the same way....Midi in/outs for MPC4k and Motif all connected. It's weird that I just now found this post. Just curious though, why would you need to disconnect the motif out? If you do that, you would not be able to record midi into the MPC from the motif, right?

I'm not trying to be a dick, I only got the Motif a week or so ago, and don't know that much about MIDI. For myself, I am trying to record whatever I play on the motif as midi into the MPC, so I can throw a little timing correction as needed onto the midi, and have that play back through the Motif. I think that's what Agwhite was looking for, but I may be wrong. Maybe you guys could point both of us in the right direction.

you can go from the motif to the mpc and backward, and you dont have to disconnect the midi out....
all you have to do is to change the local controll setting to "off" on the motif, cause otherwise you will have a midiloop.

Yep, pretty much that's what I was leading to. I wanted to show an example of this by starting out disconnecting the midi cable as opposed to juggling through the global settings first. But in this case, yeah he'll have to loop his board or if he's got another midi capable keyboard, that can be used as the master controller.

The keyboard can then focus on using the midi in (connected from the mpc's midi out) from that point.
