Tracking

I have been making beats for about ten years. I woudl make the beat; have my boy track everything out, and then arrange it myself. I didn't want to get caught up with the technical part of beatmaking. Well, I screwed up cause my boys gone, and I can track my beats.

I have my MPC 2000 Classic MIDI'd up to my Motif XS6. The outputs of those two machines are going into my Delta Audio 44 soundcard. I can monitor both machines without a mixer which I like. I want to be able to track out in my DAW (everyting on seperate tracks for mixing) I know I will probably have to do 1 or two tracks at a time, but my questions is. How the hell can I get the tracks to line up in my DAW. Do I have to press play on my machine at exactly the same time...everytime I press record in my DAW? There's gotta be a way.. MIDI timeclock or something.. If someone could help out I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks in advance!!!! Acq

with the detla 44 you can track 4 channels at a time. For the rest use midi.

I have the outs from my Motif going into the other two inputs I need those for monitoring (No mixer). I have to dig up my old MIDI interface, and get that going. I have the 8 outs on my MPC too. It's a dam shame I cant afford a mixer right now. I will just sync up my MPC in Cubase to send a start message everytime, and just do one track at a time. Unless anyone has a better suggestion. Thanks!!

If you're using cubase then the first step is going to the "transport" field. This is what it should look like once you get there...



Then you can go to the next step and view your sync routing and connections.



You probably already know this, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

And you don't need to use the "start message" to do this. Plus you have 4 audio inputs, so you can track whatever it is four at a time.

If I unplug my keyboard from the inputs on the cound card..is there a way to still monitor the sounds while recording with no mixer? Also...You mentioned that I don;t need to send a start message..How will al the tracksa line up, or strt recording in the same spot? I know I sound like a dumb as but I have never done this before.. Thanks for you help...

This is in reference to using midi clock, not MTC which is what's suggested that you use. What doesn't recognize the "continue" command these days, unless it's cheap or something?
