What steps do I need to take to have Protools start and stop the 4k by remote control. I need to lay in multiple audio tracks with the same start point, and I want Protools to be my master controller.

Thanks Fame. I think I got the Protools side down but the 4000 manual seems a little dicey in this area and I am missing something small because I have not been able to jump start the 4k from within PT yet. Also I am not getting a proper midi signal from the 4k into PT(or any soft sequencer) for some reason. It seems like this routing situation is f*ed and should be so easy but I can't seem to get it to work right on a consistent basis. It's mad frustrating. I've got signals in OMS working cool but lord know why it's tripping in PT ect....

hey giga ! in p.tools set up a midi trak to send mtc(midi time code) at 25 frames and a start point of let's say 23.00.00.00 ! send that to you midi interface which should have an midi out connected to one of the midi in's on the mpc ! on your main page in the mpc you will see sync on/off,go there and press window button!in the top half of the dialog box where it say's mode change it so it reads midi time code, where it say's sync change that to whatever midi in your using for the incoming mtc sync! frame should be on 25 as it is in p.tools and seq start time should correspond with the one in p.tools as well ,in this case 23.00.00.00( bear in mind not to have things start at 00.00.00.00 most machines don't like unity).get out of that window now and make sure sync is on ! also make sure the tempo of p.tools and the mpc is the same for identical bar lock-up!

note: you might have to do the seq start time in song mode separately ! this doesn't read directly of the one in seq mode ! in any case just make sure the one in song mode looks identical to the one in seq mode !

hope this helps you out ! peace

Hey Gig, hopefully you got it workin now. But if not, I know Ive answered that question more than a couple times here, and in 'Pro Tools LE for MAC' forum at http://www.digidesign.com/ . The 'search' function for Digi's forums works a lot better than the one for this forum.

I use 30 frames which is standard in the US video industry (NTSC). 25 frames is standard in UK/Austraila (PAL) video.

Good Luck.
