NEED HELP CHOPPING SAMPLES

can sombody please give me some advice on chopping samples i get the sample i want to use but for some reason when i try to put it together it comes out sloppy or just don't make sense do anybody know of any good video's that can help me.

What type of MPC you got? For all are not created equal.

i use a software on my comp i think its much easier.

I have a MPC 2000xl and I have that same problem. For instance, I chop my sample into zones and assign it to the drum pads, when I hit the drum pads to try and make it all come together smoothly, it sounds horrible. I mean sounds from the previous pad I hit overlaps with the next pad...it's a true mess. Any advice on how to make it all flow. I watched the videos on youtube of how the guys hit the pads and their samples come together so smoothly. What am I dong wrong?????

Change the samples from poly to mono and put them in the same mute group.

About the overlaps.. it overlaps cause your not playing the pads at the same tempo the whole sample is playign at. So dunno if this helps but u can change the pads from "one shot" to "note on"
When enabling everypad to note on and try to play with the pads. The sample will play as long as u hold the pad down. This way you wont get the overlapping.

You just need to practice adjusting the start and end points of each slice. Use mute targets, so the next pad will silence the previous pad, to prevent overlapping. Or, as Jaytime says, use the Note On function for each pad.

use ur ears n play out a vibe in ur head of wot u want to do with the sample then find them points and chop away.

Try Getting a perfect loop before you actually chop it onto the 16 pads....
You should get even sound from all the pads after that...
But the loop of the sample has to be perfect....

^ BASICALLY. MAKE SURE TO LOOP THE SAMPLE PREFECTLY (IN TRIM MODE) BEFORE YOU CHOP IT.
