Good read guys.

Again, I pick NYM if we play stuck-on-an-island-in-the-middle-of-nowhere game again!

xPEACE goes out NYM!

how about USE EVENTS: OFF by default in track mute window...

are you asking what this is? i never go into the track mute window so i'll have to try and figure it out for you...

Any word on multi-timbrality?

Also did you try that zero-crossing "detector"? I guess it's same as in S900 which has automatic loop point search.

sorry.. yes so if you mute tracks while record is on the on/off mutings get recorded, mostly by accident as far as i see the feature. you can disable the track on/off from use in track mute screen but there is no way to set it off by default... perhaps it's just me but find it quite annoying when some tracks get muted by them self. ;)

i found out a little more about the qlinks today, and you have less to fear, especially with the inclusion of a version of the track explode feature:

turning on a qreal filter doesn't physically turn on the filter for the PROGRAM, it just does for the TRACK - ie if you use 1 program on 2 tracks, you can set HPF on one track and LPF on the other without them contradicting each other.

phew. sorry to scare you. i hope you didn't email them about this confusion.

thanks for the update Nym. nah, i didn't email JJ. i'm not going to contact them until i have dowloaded the beta and tried everything out for myself.

while what you've just described is better than your first report, i still think this is lacking compared to the original filter behavior. for example: to get the different filter behavior for different drum sounds you have to put each pad on it's own track. that's fine except now they won't all respond to the qlink simultaneously since the qlink only affects the currently active track. before you could keep everything on 1 track (with all the different filter settings) and they would all change simultaneously with one qlink adjustment.

everything i've seen so far about OS 2XL is great so i hope he just brings back the old behavior. this is the only thing that seems to have been weakened.

1 other question: in the early videos JJ showed that both QLINK assignments were visible from the MAIN screen, but in his most recent videos it only shows 1. do you know what is up with that? having both QLINKS visible on the MAIN screen is definitly better than just 1 at a time.

If you've recorded Track Mute data into the Sequence that you didn't want, you should be able to do and delete those events
in the step sequencer? The only reason that they are muting and unmuting is because of data that has been recorded into
the sequence itself. So i f you have tracks that do this and you don't want them to , then just delete that track mute info....

good. this is exactly what i posted in my comparison OBSERVATION - i even credited you for the example!
we'll see what happens. perhaps a qreal addition of "global cutoff" is possbible, in addition to the existing LPF HPF and BPF qreal options.

i did try the zero crossing detector, but not in earnest yet. i got a mono sample looping very smoothly but didn't test too much yet.

mutlitimbrality is a rumor but not much more at this point. that would take a LOT of work.

Nym> nothing to report about that point :

5. "EQH" and "EQL" are added to a filter. (EQH = Equalizer High, EQL = Equalizer Low)

are there customizable options or is it fixed?
By dtaa pla muk Fri Dec 19, 2008 9:27 pm
unless i'm missing something, they're fixed. just shelf high and shelf low. convenient in FILT2's spot after another filter in an INST pgm.

thanks for your answer.

What about zero crossing points?

I have an option like this in the s950 but it's always set far from the looping point so it's useless.

What about JJ's feature?
By dtaa pla muk Sat Dec 20, 2008 5:33 pm
it's a zero crosspoint finder, not a crossfade loop feature. i think the latter is just too much to ask for.

however, the zero crosspoint finder is well implemented - what do you mean "far away from the loop point?"

what zero crosspoint finders don't account for is stereo files.

And how hard would it be for a zero cross finder to account for stereo? Seems pretty easy as I often find myself manually searching for such crossing points on stereo wavs. They are there. A machine could find them faster. Yet how is it that I've never seen this function on any software or hardware? What programs/hardware utilizes this function?

Just curious.

well, a stereo wav file is just 2 mono files.
both mono files have zero crosspoints in amongst themselves, BUT the odds that both have a zero crosspoint at the exact same time is very unlikely. the stereo file's L and R sides would have to have independent loop sections, which would probably result in phasing....

a true crossfade would really solve this probelm, but you rarely see that even

i didn't know hands had any discerning racial characteristic!

i've been beta testing the os, i don't know if anyone else out there has a copy other than murai -- maybe another japanese tester -- but it's bound to be out real soon. before the 25th probably.
