Any suggestions for samples?

I just brought the mpc500 and thought if any one had any suggestions on what sort samples i could go for.
Should i buy some of the samples for the mpc500 or should i try and sample my own stuff?
Any help would be helpful.

There are samples everywhere, if you've got the extra money to buy something thats free go right ahead.

Or you could just go through your cd collection and snatch a bunch of clean drum sounds. If you've got a turntable, snatch up all of grannies old records. Or if granny threw them out already you could go down to a decent thrift shop and get a hundred perry como records for a buck. the kids are putting everything at 45 to get those stupid high pitched vocals anyway so it doesn't matter what record it is.

Look deep within yourself and find what type of music YOU like. Because from there you can make the beats that you wanna hear, isn't that the reason you bought the 500 in the first place? The soul of the beat-maker is the ghost in the machine.
