Yes this is a real pic I took it myself.

Originally called the Mpc3500 due having the timing correction clock of the Mpc3000
The Mpc3500 was naturally changed to mpc5000 when Akai put the product out.

I myself think they should have played more on the mpc3500.

Many mixed reviews on the mpc5000,but I will say.
I have owned every mpc since the Mpc60 and this mpc feels as good as the mpc3000 and the sample editing features and synth are just awesome..

does the actual unit say 3500 on it also?

And are the specs and features listed as being the same as the final 5k?

if they had of just released it as a 3500 in the first place, it would've been a smooth ride for them... but they pulled an okey doke move and got busted.

You should have emailed akai first before sending these pictures out into the wild.

They prolly would of paid you to keep hush   :D

graaaaaaaaand gaffffffffffffffffe

wikipedia wrote:A gaffe is a verbal mistake, usually made in a social environment. The mistake may come from saying something that is true, but inappropriate. It may also be an erroneous attempt to reveal a truth. Finally, gaffes can be malapropisms, grammatical errors or other verbal and gestural weaknesses or revelations through body language. Actually revealing factual or social truth through words or body language, however, can commonly result in embarrassment or, when the gaffe has negative connotations, friction between people involved.

A grammatical or literary error is more embarrassing in the company of intellectuals, professors or serious students, just as errors of science can be embarrassing among scientists or doctors. The protagonist attorney in the film Liar Liar plays on the nature of truth revelation, however, and its ambiguous or unexpected consequences.

"Originally called the Mpc3500 due having the timing correction clock of the Mpc3000"

Where did you get this information?
Can you provide some evidence this is true?
Very interesting...

The actual units did say MPC 3500 on them. There are only 2 in existence and Akai has one of them and Rick Stone has the other one. I bought my MPC60 II from him and he had the MPC3500 and a MPC 5000.

Why??

Anyways the mpc5000 is the most bad a$$ mpc ever.
Hands off to Akai.

My only beef with it is the chop shop is not improved at all over the mpc2500`s chop show, and the mpc still can`t detect a BPM

Its funny though the mpc2000xl detects bpms great but every mpc made after the xl can`t get the darn BPM arrrrg~~!!

i think ppl are missing the fact that their "thousand" series mpc's (since the 1000) are more like...sequels, hence the 1000, 2000, etc.

and the 500 will be more like the smaller slightly more downgraded mpc...hence the 500, the 2500, etc.

just my two cents. people are still comparing it to a 2500....but personally i think a 3500 would be just as small as a 2500, but with more upgrades.

whether or not you actually LIKE the 5000 model, is a different story.

Personally i think all the "i dont like it because..." stuff should be wrapped up, and everyone just get what machine works for you. if you dont like the new maxima, you'd sooner go buy a honda than sit in front of Nissan explaining how much you hate the maxima and why.
