Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hello

Just got an mpC 500 (had a 1000 for a brief while) and am happy with it. I've read the manual but would appreCiate any help with the following 2 quiCk questions.

i) I understand that the POLY and MONO settings when playing samples. In mono, If I press e.g. pad 2 quiCkly two times the sample 'repeats' itself but only one sample is played at onCe. Cool - but is there a way to have only one sample playing at onCe over all the pads - If I hit pad 4 and a long sample starts to play - and I want to Cut it short and replaCe it with pad 5, how do I do that - so far when I set it up - pad 5 starts to play - but pad 4 still goes on.

ii) Is there a way of setting a pad to Constantly repeat i.e. a pad with a baCkbeat but have all other pads in 'one off' mode. I asked this question for the mpC 1000 and it was kindly answered but the solution does not work for the 500.
I'd like to hit one pad and have a drumbeat Constantly loop, and use the other pads to play samples (not looped)

Any help on this welCome

thanks

heh

the 'c' key is broken on my laptop, so I have to copy 'C' to the clipboard and use CTRL+V to paste a 'C'...

i guess maybe I should have used a lower case 'c' :?

Oh, it's no biggie. I thought it was either that or you were a crip and I was out of the loop.

AAAAAnnnd if all this shit doesnt work^^

it sounded like some dumb problem i had i think, when going to mode then program, then finding the one shot, to note on for the samples, ya know?

thanks Ocular for the the help with the Mute Group - but about the loops - well it only seems to work when I hold the pad down - even if I alter the setting to 'one shot'. I'd like to just hit the pad once and have the sample constantly loop.

Any ideas ??

I work around this by puttin the sample on the first step. It will loop then once the sequence restarts.
