Problem Loading OS2XL, Any Ideas?

Lame... I've been excited to try it all day, and my machine just glitches and locks as soon as OS2XL starts up. I tried re-downloading the OS file and installing it again... same issue.

My specs: MPC1000 w/ Akai 128MB ram, and no HD, OS1 (with password) and OS2 (no password) installed.

I'm trying to attach a picture of the frozen glitched main screen I keep getting. Any have some ideas to try?

did you update to the absolute most recent version of OS 1 before you installed? (i think it's 4.99I - from NOV 2008)

Sooty--Yes, great question. I forgot to mention this in my post. I just checked my email and Murai actually wrote me the same exact question.

Did you hold "Erase" while you booted up first time?

It looks like CPU is unable to read some data from certain memory adress so try to remove your RAM and install OSXL with 16MB only.
Maybe your Ram is not fully compatible (just guessing).

Tosh-- Why would I hold erase during the first boot-up? I didn't do this, it doesn't look like JJ included this step in his directions for installing.

Dusty-- It would seem crazy that the official Akai memory is incompatible, but I'll give this a shot if it comes to it. Not a bad suggestion...

Since a default setup changes when OS2XL is installed for the first time, or when OS is switched,
please turn on a power supply, pressing the ERASE key.

I installed it and didnt use the ERASE button for nothing... I would assume the issue is something with a prior version of the JJ OS because I had all the JJ OS
installed and unlocked and everything seems to be on point on my end.

I think there's a chance that I'm the first person to install OS2XL who hasn't entered the password for OS2.

I had a similar error with early os2 and it was fixed with update and "Erase"-button.

My update went fine without the erase button. I had OS 1 and 2 with password installed.

So to be sure I get no problems do I need to reload the OS and hold the erase on next bootup?

Well I just did it to be sure.

UPDATE: Just installed OS2XL perfectly, this time I held down the erase button while it was booting up for the first time.

I would venture that anyone installing this version of OS2XL (1.0) who doesn't have a password for OS2 yet, will need to hold down
the erase button on first boot-up like I did.

Glad I didn't bump into that issue. I probably would've been worried I'd borked my firmware/cpu.
