How would you set up a Studio if you had to start over?

Yeah. M-Audio interface you mean like MIDI Controller right. That's usually just demo versions.

Just wondering. How many people in here actually use FL Studio.

My gear... Hmm I am glad I got what I have, but my only problem is buying too much gear too quickly, haven't really mastered my software, or my hardware yet and I think I'm missing a piece to make all my stuff fit together the way I want... Read my other thread in here "getting started" - having issues with setting up MPC with my turntables, speakers and all that. But I'm a quick learner and stubborn when it comes to work, music, and most stuff in life so I don't really think it's a mistake for someone like me - rather use my money on something useful down the road, than the usual stuff. (Yeah it's the canvas-salesman syndrome, it comes with the 9 to 5).

I sometimes use FL studio. A lot of people insult it because they seem to think it cant make good sounding stuff, or they think music made with it sounds "fruity looped" or what ever. The dumbest reason for hating FL studio that I heard of is "the sounds in fruity loops all suck" ... that is like getting an mpc and only using the sample disk that came with it.

if i was to start my studio from scratch again, i would definitely get a nicer audio interface,

maybe a apogee ensemble quality one, but id probably still keep my 500, probably wouldent have bought protools yet, as i only use it for timestretching now as i use logic for all my mixing and i woulda spent that money on a nice convolution reverb, and i would downgrade my dxm pro dj mixer to something less expensive and maybe downgrade my turntable from my tt500 to something less expensive also and taken that money and put it toawards a pair of bxm5a dynaudio monitors, then gotten a parallels type program so i could run pc on my mac and use soudforge in it without having to switch computers to chop up my samples.

thats about it though, i have made pretty good choices so far, i have a good set up that works for me just some gear was overpriced and some was underpriced.
i would have also not bought my sp404 because i eventually sold that to get a 500.

and i would have stopped buying midi controller keyboards a long time ago because whenever i do they just collect dust and i sell them 5 months later just to buy a new one in the next 4 months. ive done that twice.

i've been using FL Studio alot when i'm out & about.

the MPC is setup @ home.

While at work during lunch, I sit at my desk & start making loops. tweak the sounds already in FL.

while staying at my brother's for the holidays, I've been bangin more tracks on FL studio with the laptop.

pretty anti-social for the holidays, but it has been yielding some killer sounds.
& it satisfies my creative itch.

The only thing I would change is getting a better computer interface and a better mixer. Right now I work with the helixboard 12 with the firewire port which allow multitrack recording.
It does the job, but doesn't give the perfect quality when recording. Need some extra channels too.

Last week I also added reason to my setup. Have the damn software for more then 6 months already, but I didn't use it. For me it's the perfect solution for an extra soundmodule at the moment.

The only things I still want is a s3000 (trying to buy a second hands right now), and I want to upgrade from a s900 to a s950. So 12bit drums and filtered bass, warm 16bit chops on top and finish it with reason when needed. All controlled by my 1k.
This is what I wanted to do from the start, but it took some time, knowledge, experience and of course money to get there.
