cd-rom drive not detected

I posted this in the newbie section but to no avail . I f theres only us newbies in it then no one knows anything.But anyway.....

I put it in(the cd-rom drive). It has power. I put the Akai CD-ROM in and it(MPC 4000) doesnt seem to notice it. I thought it should list all the sounds like it does on the computer. Im paranoid about opening up the MPC again. Any obvious solutions?

Also, this was posted a while ago and the answer was no but I thought things might have changed. I s it possible to burn to cd directly from the MPC 4000 into the CD-ROM drive?

There should be a list of sounds but I don't know maybe you forgot to hook something up or something, as far as burning to cd, you cannot burn audio, the cd drive saves everything as data and wave files..........

Am I right in saying that you cant burn audio on a computer either? or does it depend. If you put it in a CD player will it play?
I m not sure what burning audio as opposed to wav means but it sounds like a pretty broad question so I wont ask.

Audio is what you here,....Example a cd you buy from the music store and listen to is audio


Wav is something like a format that has to be converted to audio.......

does the MPC work the same way as a computer. Say if I my entire song is a sample .could i burn it to the cd in the MPC and then play it on a cd player?

go into the record page and set the source as >>main out to resample your song/samples internally as a .wav file.....ready to be transfered via Ak.sys to ur pc/mac.

or to save memory to Cd as a .WAV file
go to the save/load page push>>>>f2,utility
use the jog dial to scroll to the last option >>>>memory to Cd
set the options as ya like!>>>>>>f6 Doit

save memory to cd saves the entire memory in ram....

thanks v. much. i know iv got a bad habit of gettin an answer to a straightforward question and then askin somethin totally different and complicated but here goes.

i use sounds from a synth on my mpc to make sequences . Then I sample all the audio from the synth on the mpc. Convert to wav on computer. Burn cd.
Is this madness sound quality wise. Cos i seem to be losing some quality when im sampling everything. But if im gonna put it on a cd its gonna happen sometime (the loss in sound quality) so maybe its not madness. maybe its cos I havent used the 24 bit option.
