they are way better than the 2,5k /1k effects (had the 1k and then the 2,5k for a while).
u can pretty good use the basic effects like delay, phaser, flanger, panning etc...
and the filters are also not bad (though a bit thin) and useable...
the 4k has the best effects from the MPC serie (expect the 5k???) but compared to emu or ensoniq they are crap...
even compared to the cheap minikaoss pad they are crap.
but use it as a gift, the power from the mpcs is elsewhere

currently i pass my effects off to a lexicon mpx1- but am trying to shorten the signal path.
