any one using PRO TOOLS with your mpc?

do you record by track? like, your DRUMS on one track, SNARES on another, and so on? when you sample, do you still sample threw your mpc, then transfer that into the PRO TOOLS? what interface do you use?

I'm looking to add pro tools and reason. I want the ability to simultaneously multi track so I'm looking to upgrade to 8 outs and I'll be buying an 8in audio/midi interface, I've been leaning toward either the m audio fast track ultra 8r (the rack version) or the m audio profire 2626.

I have PT LE with the MBOX 2.... But I have not figured out how to use it yet... I have pretty much given up on it..... Tracking out with the MBOX has proven to be a pain because of the lack of inputs... So a different interface is def needed.... My beats usually have about 15-25 tracks , so tracking out takes alot of time.

Yo, I use my mpc2500 in conjunction with Mbox2 and PT 7.4 (PC) and it works great. It took me some time to find the good workflow, but i do it now like this:

I make the beat in the mpc and record every track or instrument in different tracks in PT trough the digital SPDIF cable (Digital out makes a 1:1 copy of what comes out of the mpc into PT, and i found out it doesn't mess with the swing of your beat once its recorded in PT.)
Make sure you set your mpc to start, before playing your beat, with a click intro.
Allign the clicks in PT by zooming way in.
All your recorded tracks will now be in sync.

It takes up some work but after all this you can edit and mix your beat properly and fully controllable.

Another very important thing: Find some good plugins to mix. I would say find the McDSP plugins (eq, compressor) for low latency and great quality!

I have my 2500 hooked up to my M-audio Projectmix.

The stereo outs go to input 1-2 (via my MFC-42), i use it for the main sample.

The kick, snare and hihat tracks are routed to input 3,4 and 5 via the individual outs.

My EMU Mo'Phatt is on inputs 7 and 8.

They all go to individual tracks in PT, drums are routed to an aux input track, to compress them together.

MPC is master, PT is slave.

Works for me.
