Whats up peeps,
Ive been using my MPC 2500 for a while now, but have only ever used it for sequencing and to trigger sounds and efects in live shows etc etc. Im new to sampling Soul, funk, and all that. Problem is, When i sample Soul loops or something like that. Theres always the odd kick or snare in the loop im sampling. Which throws my drum pattern out. Does the 2500 have a feature to 'edit' out the kicks and snares or somethin to that effect??

Sounds stoopid i new, very noob!

Thanks in advance for your help....

So you need to learn how to loop. And you don't know how to edit or trim the loop down to the point where you can hear it loop almost perfectly?

???

most of the times real drummers (like on the record) dont play perfectly in time, which will cause your drum hits to be off with the ones on the record if you sequence them straight in (no tc). just chop the sample on the drum hits, simple as that, then you can program them in and play your drums on top and they should be perfectly on time with each other.

I know how to loop, so it loops perfectly. But when i do the loop theres like a kick or snare in the loop from the part of the original song im sampling...i dont know how to edit the kick or snare that was in the original track im sampling so i can put my drum pattern over it.....you know??

thanks for the help, although i would have thought if i chop the sample on the drum hits, wont it throw the rythym of the song off? ie. bass, piano??

not inless those instruments are off the drum hits. i duno dawg i cant say i always chop on the drum hits, i just misinterpreted your original question. I thought you were saying in the loop, the drums of the sample were off time. But anyway just chop how you wanna chop and just do the damn thing, cant really explain it, but usually i chop in 8th notes which would be 16 chops for 2 bars. That works pretty well with keeping things on time.

just check ya chops and make sure u got it chopped on the hits n the samples aint to long and that should help things. Also play ya drums out following the sample that way u will get a smooth flow between ur drums and the samples and you dont overkill by havin drums that dnt fit the sample.
