I was going to say the zip in your picture looks the same as my 250 mb SCSI one, then realised I've got two little switches on the back, not one.
I've just got the symbol that bigsteve81 says is like a diamond...or a square G.... but not the one to the right of it.
Also, the connections on the back of mine are different. I've got two female ones, like the one on the right on yours. I'm going from the left one straight into the same type of female connector on the back of my MPC2000 with the cable that came in the box with my zip. No problems.
Does the 2000xl have different SCSI connectors on the back to the 2000?
SCSI zips went out of production a few years ago, so any that are still for sale new from dealers should be the last models made. Could it be these last ones were some kind of hybrid SCSI/Parallel type that just don't work well with MPCs?
Iomega's website has quite a lot of useful troubleshooting tips for their discontinued models. It might also help you find exactly what model yours is. http://www.iomega.com
& DJAndreas........having a mirror behind your equipment is a pretty standard way of being able to check your connections........( & not just to see how cool you might look if you were up on stage!!!!!! )

All I needed was a double sided female db-25 pin gender changer which I bought today. I plugged the blue plug into the autodetect then the other side went into the gender changer which then went into the the white plug thats connected into the mpc. Finaly all this fustration is over & it's time to go make some beats.
