Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I am in the process of sampling the Zoom Streetboxx banks into programs for the 2kxl, but I have run into a problem.

WHenever I sample a new bank, I give the sounds a new name. The MPC automatically assigns a number, in chronological order, at the end of the sample and this saves me a lot of time. I saved the sounds as .SND files.

Turns out that, when I put the memory card into the computer, all the sounds for each program DO NOT have a number after them. Each program has 13 sounds and when I try to transfer them from memory card to my computer, it replaces all but one of the sounds because it believe they are all the same.

WTH??? Will saving as .wav fix this problem? It takes me like 15 minutes to sample and trim each bank in the streetboxxx, and its got a total of 237 banks of sounds. I was hoping to upload this for the MPC heads, but this problem is really annoying me.

Sounds like your mpc media was formatted on mpc.
Sounds like you saved with longer than 8 characters.
PC is truncating your names because the fat system between the 2 machines isn't 100% the same.

Reformat your mpc media on pc using fat16/fat. When saving as WAV on mpc, forget SND, use 8 or
less characters in the name.

ckrename, can help with batch renaming on pc.

Thanks for this info, guys.

I had 15 out of 237 banks already sampled, and now I gotta do it again. Hopefully before february 13th, I can have something for this forum.
