Hi,
I recently purchased the MPC 5000 and so far, I am feeling it. I like the computer USB connection, I love the effects, I love the sequencer changes.
However, the sound is very different from the mpc 2000xl. It sounds a lot cleaner...I mean, now I can hear crackles from records much more clearly, background noises in my drums (hisses, etc,) that I could not hear before, things like that. I know there is some master compression and stuff, are there any specific settings to get it to sound like the 2000xl did?
Also, I am doing something wrong when I hook up my triton through midi. I did this many times with the 2000xl and everything worked fine...But with the 5000, when I go to flip through my sound banks on the triton while my sequnce on the 5000 is playing, the sequence and programs change each time I select a new sound. Is this a bug? I have the local control on the triton turned off...I have it selected to the correct MIDI channel based on my MIDI cable connection...But once I make a change of sounds on the triton, it messes the mpc all up.
I did notice something pattern based though. If I went to a sound bank with a number (e.g. Keyboard A065 on triton) it would go to sequence 65, etc...strange. Anyway, is there some correct way to hook up an external sound module/keyboard so I don't have these problems or is this a bug?
By the way, my MIDI setting are correct as far as out to in, in to out, etc...I had it hooked up that way on the 2000xl for years and everything was good.
Thanks for the help.
