The kind of '' double kick '' used in the drum beat

Yo,

do anybody of you know how you can create the sort of DJ Premier kick style he uses ?

It sounds like a double set of kick rapidly played after eachother.
I already tried to do it on my MPC 1000, loaded the same kick to 2 pads and make the 1 kick sounding softer/less louder than the other one. Like Premo did it, it just give you that raw and rough sound.

Use 2 different pressures.

USE NOTE REPEAT...TIME CORRECT OF 1/8...that will give that bouncy kick...feel...is dat what ur talking about? WELL NOTE REPEAT CAN GIVE YOU THAT SOUND. And if u have the JJ OS u can edit the kick in the grid map. Press MODE, PAD 15

Aight, will try that out, and yes I have the JJ OS, OS 1 and 2 respectively.

Just listen to the drums that start at 00:14, and then the '' double '' kick at 00:15.

So it would be mad dope if it works. Thnx.

It's part of a normal drum pattern.

program something like this:

kick on 1.01.00
snare on 1.02.00
kick on 1.02.72
kick on 1.03.00= the double kick
snare on 1.04.00

Got it? If u catch the feel of it u can just play it in realtime. Play with the swing settings to make the space smaller between the double kicks

I definitely got it now. Just 1/8 note and swing to 75%.
