Is my Q Link slider broken?

I got a used 2500 for Christmas and I'm having trouble editing samples. When trimming a sample with the after button+slider, Q1 works fine for the start point, but Q2 I suppose should work the same way for end points, isn't working. It only scrolls back partially and not nearly far enough to make any useful cuts.

The slider also acts wierd when assigning the tune function to a pad. It seems the range is greatly reduced with the values being the same as Q1. There is huge difference in the functionality of Q1 and Q2. Do I need to replace the PCB board or is this a software issue. Thanks in advance.

is your mpc new or used? do you know which os it is running (mode -> Pad 10)?
if the os version is lower than 1.23 or 1.24 then i suggest to upgrade to the latest os from akaipro.com which is 1.24.
if your mpc is running one of the unofficial os versions 3.xx or 5.xx or else i suggest to ask in that forum.

you could also try a factory reset -> hold the erase button while powering up the mpc.

I got it used. I recently upgraded to 1.24. When I got it , it was running 1.1. I'll try the factory reset and see what that does.


Ok. Tried the reset. Same results.

I ordered a Q Link slider pcb board from mpcstuff.com for $40. It was easy enough to install myself and all my slider problems went away. Problem fixed!

Probably just need to put the top off it and re sodder the Qlink wire.
