HDD with Vailixi ?

I was wondering if this would work with a reg 3K, and if not then with 3.50
I sent the lady a email asking but she's such a raging bich I couldnt get a real answer.

I only gotta 60 rite now, but if this works with 3k someone shud jump on dis.

Nothing about that deal looks attractive. Then again, I bought a Hard Drive for my 60 yrs ago... and it gets no usage.

CF reader can be installed internally. (so can a 2.5 hard drive like I bought though)

Once you fill up a 2GB CF card... you can buy another one and never open up your MPC.

Thats a no brainer to me. Having an external 2gb HD will last a long time @ 1.5 or 32MB. Unlimited capacity is much nicer though.

Drive Size Capacity for AKAI sampler/keyboard/recorder:

* Akai S950, S3000, S3200, S3000XL, S3200XL, Akai MPC2000XL, and MPC3000

These versions will work with a drive that is 2048Mb (2 Gig), or less. These AKAI samplers will recognize either 739 MB or 512 MB and the rest of the drive capacity will be ignored
* All other AKAI models will recognize larger capacity drives, please consult your owner manual or consult with the manufacturer

Actually it should work with a 60 as well. Its just a SCSI HD. If you have SCSI on your 60, try a HD it will probably work. I remember having an external 2.1 hooked up to mine. Regular Quantum or WD HD I had laying around the house. Nothing special.

I'd rather have a CF card.

I'd only bother with a solid state hard drive.

You wanna move away from moving parts if possible.

I feel u, dawg, but there ain't n e solid state hard drive compatible w/3K there ain't , right?

When I seen dis, ma thoughts were: cheaper+mo available than a PCD-25, just needs a case, and u hav fastest external solution for the 3K out there!

it should work with the mpc without the vailixi upgrade, with any compatible scsi drive enclosure + power supply.

but the mpc series can only read partitions of 20 MB at a time (33 MB for vailixi, i think). each partition has to be named with a unique, single letter of the alphabet. so with a 20 MB X 26 available name limit, you can only use 520 MB of any drive on an MPC 3000 (858 MB on vailixi), regardless of how big the drive is.
