2008 has been a crazy year here in these forums. It's like the lunatics are running the asylum. But in a few more hours, 2008 will be in the rearview (it is already 2009 in Japan).

So it is time for a fresh start and to brush the dirt off the shoulders of the MPC 5000. Akai wrote "Winter NAMM 2009 is the place to be for the latest news and about what Akai Professional's development team has been cooking up." I am excited about seeing all the new products from all these companies.

But specifically....I am hoping that this translates into something great for the MPC 5000. So what do you guys/gals think Akai is cooking up in a potential OS update (outside of bug fixes) for the MPC 5000? Please share and discuss (without the negativity for once).

Realistically...I hoping for my top feature requests which are enhancements to sample and program editing. This is what I would like above all else. :D

Peace and blessings to everyone (even the lunatics  )

Hope y'all have a great New Year in 09

Guess we'll just need to wait and see what's being cooked up...

...fingers crossed; hope that it does translate into something great for the 5K :)

i'm hoping they embed an ability to choose different smiley faces to help us catagorize our samples.

...i also think if they could somehow attatch a jet propulsion pack to allow us to play the 5k while it is levitating in mid-air.

...maybe also send us all a free andromeda synthesizer, ....

...hmm....also, ...64 audio tracks with better audio editing than cubase or pro tools, ....and possibly just $2500 out of pure love.

if they do all of that, ..i promise i will not complain at all!!! ...seriously, ...i really would never ever ever complain about akai if they did that, ...even if they no longer offered customer support or even sent me hate mail, or called me and told me to go F*&^* myself, ...i would still never ever ever complain.

It would be nice to put an intelligence feature on any future mpc. That way the os will have a way of guiding the user through gradual levels or stages of expertise. And at the same time, release features based on their understanding of the machine.

But you'll have the option of bypassing this, only if you pay Akai a no feature fee. ???

A new wish list ;) ??

Let's hope for:

Keyzone programs / global prog. editing + Multi Sampling Option.
Synth editing recordable with Knobs & Sliders on Sequencer (!!!!).
Synthesizer preview before loading.
8 Single FX alternatively to 4 double FX.
Better saving options: single song, FX / mixer saveable etc.
Different FX Settings per sequence, FX settings with sliders recordable (both in today's fx filled productions a standard).
Mutliband Comp. for Mastering
More Q-Link banks in a song to select and twist ;D

And as Askia stated it in another thread - the short decay on envelopes sound a bit strange, also in the synth section.
But this may be a matter of taste.

This are all not heavy to do's I assume, so let's see :D

We have our feature requests/wish list threads. This is more like what do you think from those threads has a realistic chance of being added this year.

In addition to my above post will be just a couple more features. It will also add a few more bugs so it will not be much more reliable. Around summer 2009 they will release an update with more bug fixes only. There will still be a few serious and minor bugs so it will be barely decent but not solid. After that the support will be dropped for the 5k forever.

There are plenty of exciting things to be shown at Namm from several companies. Besides..I think nothing shown will completely satisfy people's lust.
:D
