Monitoring inputs while working...

I know it is possible to monitor the the inputs while recording, but has anyone figured out a way to hear the inputs while working in the Main Screen? Im trying to hear my synth (going through the MPC1000) and MPC at the same time, using the headphone/main output, so i wont need a mixer while working.

Can't be done, unfortunately - that would be a really useful feature...
