Ok the old man needs help. I have repeatedly read the manual on chopping and assigning samples. I am trying to slice up a sample and assign it to pads. I can slice the sample ok but I thought when you had it sliced it would automatically assign to pads depending on the number of slices you performed. It appears I am doing something wrong. Can anyone give me a step by step breakdown. I am now totally lost.

Thanks.

Damnit. Trying to copy from PDF into this is a pain in the ass.

ok, here goes:

1) After you have your slices, press F4, which should be the "convert" option.

2) In the "Convert To" field, you want to choose Sliced Samples

3) The "Release" field is, however long EACH CHOP will play after you let go of its pad. The bigger you set the release value, the larger the size of the chopped samples.

4) "Create new program". You want to set this to yes ( I don't know what setting it to "no" does). This will set the chops across the pads AND THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. If you have 5 chops, it will set it from pads 1 to 5. If you have 10 chops, it sets it to pads 1 through 10.

Hope that helps, old timer.

Wow, I got it. I now understand what the release does after you explained it. Secondly, I now understand the pad scenario after I create a new program. Thanks so much for the details. You are the man!

The Old Timer is back on track.
