HELP! Having problems recording into the MPC1k

I am not hearing any sound when recording the audio into my mpc1k, instead it's making a crackling noise.

My input is on to Analog as I'm using phone jacks
The mode is on stereo
Monitor is off

There is a signal coming through but it's just a crackling noise which gets louder when turning up the record in Knob.

Have you tried different cables?

Are you sure that your wires are connected to the line out of the source?

well at the moment the connection is
audio Out from the soundcard going into the mpc.

And I'm sure this is right, or am wrong.
But when connecting the cables out of the mpc into the soundcard....the sound is fine and I can hear the audio.

Your going to have to find out where the origin of the crackling is, plug something else into the soundcard (headphones, cd burner anything with a line in) and see if the noise is there.
