MPC 60 Vs MPC 1000

Hi there just wondering in your opinion what MPC is better - 60 or the 1000?

What are the main differences between the two?

MPC 60's take floppy disks don't they?

thats not really a good comparison.

a better, more fair comparison would be 60 vs. 2000, 2000xl, 3000 or 2000, 2000xl, 3000 vs. 1000, 2500

the machines you mention are on opposite ends of the spectrum and choosing one over the other is not solely based on a couple of features.

one might get the 60 for the fact it has that gritty 12 bit sound that some claim is missing from the later machines. and the durability of the actual machine that puts the 1000 to shame. if you can still find one in mint condition that is.

another might get the 1000 because of the many new features and capabilites that overwhelmingly surpass the 60's.

this day and age i would say that there's really no point in going with the 60 unless your really fanatical about attaining that original mpc sound or can get one really cheap. which is pretty much what has kept it from seeing its last days.

No filter
Less polyphony
BUILT IN 88. Nuff said

More Ram
CF card/ hdd/ usb
Chopshop
JJOS
H/l/b pass filter

The only thing that's better on a 60 is it's built quality, and the 12bit converters.
If u were thinking about to buy the 60 for it's 12bit sound ur better of with a 1k and a s950 (far more features like timestretch and THE lowpass filter

60's aren't limited to Floppys.

They can use SCSI: Hard drives, zip drives, IIRC Flash cards(with the right cables).

but still won't beat the 1k on saving/loading facilities.

I have both a 60 & a 1K. The 60 is the one I use more, mearly because of its Midi and sequencer capabilities. People tend to forget how good the 60 is at that. Its the center for my studio. Yes, the 1K is easier to sample, chop, etc... but for me it all depends on what your using it for. If your new, I'd do what the others said and get the 1K, if you have tons of other equitment, go for the 60.
