nah sample it direct on some madlib mf doom **** it dont matter u cant tell the difference that much, long as the sample gets flipped good and **** has some dope drums and bass **** will rock well

Well i suggest myspace video over youtube if you can find the same content there. A colleague of mine uploaded one of our music videos onto youtube and you couldn't make out the piano at all, however on myspace tv or myspace video or what ever it's called.... everything sounded alright.

All I got to say is that if you make beats as a hobby and do it for fun to be the king/queen of your block, then F**k the rules of sampling. If its for a career then get a good lawyer or learn an instrument.

Actually I do sample my own sounds. I play bass and keys, and recorded 50 cds of improvisal material for my sampling pleasure. But aint nothing like sampling from vinyl.

thats a dope way of working get a synth and play random sounds then chop the good sections thats what public enemy used to do but yeah something about going to vinyl cant be replaced.

which is probably why dj swamp bought a vinyl press... and ten puts what ever he wants onto records.

how do you go about clearing samples then,say i wanted to sample a krs one record,how wud u clear it

I dont think KRS-one cares about sampling too much... but anyways if you dont know, then you are most likely not in a position that you have to worry about clearing the sample.

so false. u can take a millisecond and if the artist/writer/producer or anyone who gets a royalty recognizes it ur f'd.

bottom line, either get your shit cleared, try to flip it so noone can tell u sampled something or wut song, or giv it away. if u jus giv it to someone without a fee, then u didnt sell it........but then how do u make money? idk, but if your asking this question I know your asking price for a beat wont be anything over 50 bucks......

^ not exactly, I sell beats quite often and get WAY more than $50 bucks. Thats not even worth the time. You need to just put together a good "agreement". On mine regardless how much I sell the track for its stated that the artist and his/her management are responsible for obtaining the rights to any sampled material that may be in the production. I tell them they are paying me for both the studio time it takes to produce track and the concept. Then I tell them where the sample came from and collect my $$$.

KRS One has been quoted saying he will never sue anyone for sampling his records.... it might have been in "Scratch"

yeah, I am sure I've heard him saying that before too...

Anyways if he didn't sue jenny from the block, then I doubt he would sue a sampling hobbiest.
