i was thinking if you could do the bassline on the 500 like you can do on the 2000xl, for example,

i´m talking about just Loading up One bass sound and attatching it to all the pads with one touch, instead of pressing mode load and press each pad....
at least i havent figured out if that is possible on the 500.

Do you mean playing bass on the 500 like a keyboard? I would create a new program and assign the bassline at different pitches to the pads.

It's called 16 Levels on the MPC-2000XL

What it does is assigns that single sound to each pad and you can then chose what will change i.e. filter cuttof or in this case PITCH so you can play that bass sound like on a keyboard.

same concept works on the 500, 12 levels X 4 banks... lick the manual

Just hit the 12 levels button and select tune

You can play your sample in a chromatic way using the 12 levels ( so you have 1 octave to mess with) or you can sample 3 notes in 3 oct from your bass ( C1, C2 and C3) and make a program assigning the first sample to the bank A the second to B and the third to C.
Put the C1 on PAD 1 (as reference) and then put the same sample on all the pads in the bank A , then tune each pad 1 semitone higher.
Do the same thing on bankB with the sample C2 etc.
Then remap the pads as a classic keyboard ( A1=C1, A2= Cdiesis 1, A3= D1...etc...)
IN this way you can play your bass program from a midi keyboard as you can do on a classic sampler like the S3000.
It may seem time consuming , but you do the work only one time, the next time you'll have only to replace the 3samples with 3new samples, nothing more.

Autochromatic tuning in the 2000XL is faster but less accurate than this method.

In a way it is, but you have to assign the sample to every pad and set those pad to specific MIDI notes.

thanks for the tip, don't you have to replace more than 3 samples though , don't you have to replace all the samples in each bank?

I admit being extremely lazy here for not figuring it out myself, but I'm not having mpc/manual around atm.

Is the pad assignment program specific?
