Stick with what I got or what!...

I have the fruitloops producer edition on my laptop just waisting space because I haven't got the audio interface to hook up the rest of my stuff to the computer, on the other hand im looking into buying the pro tools mbox that comes with the software and everything............

1. Do I stick with fruity loops and get the audio interface or
2. Purchase the pro tools mbox..........

Im running the mpc 4000, some monitors, and some other odds and ends, I also have a yamaha aw4416.....and a condenser mic.....

get ird of both and stick with your hardware

Yeah I was thinking about just getting the 8 out for my mpc and working with just the yamaha, but Im just trying to find a way to get my productions to the studio without transporting equipment! I figured if I went with software recording that would make life much easier, Everytime I go to the guitar center, those guys are always pressuring me about going to pro tools, because its better than hardware, better quality, and plus its compatible with just about any studio. besides that cat dstruction said he uses hardware and his sh*t sounds tight..........

if u wanna carry your beats to th e studio, burn each track as a wave on a cd, all starting at 0 interms of time, then they can be all aligned with audio sequencing software. anyone, basiclally, if you got stereo tracks, do not interleae them, have them them seperate, so you can stero spread them better.

You talking about burning from my yamaha right? So If I had a song on my yamaha that consisted of 16 tracks, the yamaha should be able to burn those 16 tracks as a wav on a disc so I can take it to anybody with some software........If so I need to dig deeper in my yamaha manual!

If this is the case Im going to order the 8 outs as soon as I get
some feed back............I got some heavy hitters that need to be

fist i would find out what the studios in your area are using and get that program so you can track up your music and take it to the studio in their format belive me this saves time and money for the artist also not only charg them for da track but charge them for tracking the music too on your system that will be cheaper than what the studio will charge

i use nuendo becase thats what the studios in my area use but lately i have been doing a lot of production for artist out of town so im going to invest in a prootools setup because thats what a lot of people are using but i do this for a living so i dont know how much u are willing to invest in this

you can also use pro tools or nuendo with your mpc4000 togther to build tracks what ever is easy for you

from my experince if u use your lap top get a external hard drive or if you use a desktop get a removable hard drive so u can take that to the studio instead of files burnt to a cd(some times programs have a hard time reading from a cd for some reason)

Just about everybody I know back in new orleans uses the pro tools setup..... I checked out some studios here in virginia on the net and all of them uses the pro tool!.....I kinda wanna be compatible with today's technology in music.....People tell me that my yamaha is up to date and everything but every time I see a home base or professional studio there's pro tools starring at me in the face, saying, "come to me". Yall are giving me some good ass info on this topic........Im trying to gather all of the facts and determine the best solution.........

hardware+digi 02. You can run everything into that and record and edit in protools. That's what I do. Sounds nice too at 96khz.

So you telling me if I decide to get the pro tools, my yamaha can still play a part in my setup.......now thats "funky"!

i think the 8 outs is essential...i really couldn't imagine composing without the 8 outs....8 outs...analogue mixer, effects unit and a synth or two anfd your ready to go....saying that you get all of that in fruity loops so if you prefer composing on software use that instaed.

Say dub, I spoke with a guitar center person over the phone and he told me in order to have everything hooked up together I would need a audio interface.......... He suggested something call Lexicon would do the trick, it would incorporate my mpc 4000, my monitors, condenser mic, yamaha aw4416, and my laptop all together with fruity...........Can you give me some insight on this, was he guiding me right or blowing smoke up my ass just to make some cash or what?

if you havent got a soundcard that was probably what he was referring to and yes you will need one but you can get away with a sound blaster live 1024- try ebay dirt cheap they are and very good for the price....

lexicon? well they make absolutly fantastic reverb units dunno nothing about interfaces....at this stage in your game get something cheape and functional..the sb 1024 is just the card you want...


oh and the only reason i originally said go hardware is because with what you've got plus the eight outs and youll be pretty much set...id swap the yamha for an analogue mixer, get an effects unit and then just yuse your pc as a posh tape recorder....

yeah do it! but understand im no expert when it comes to pc based composition....there are peeps like da ripper, mwalker, mpc3000 etc who are far more knowledgable about the pc side....
