pad plays sound twice when hit once

so basically my issue is that on my mpc2000xl here n there when i hit a pad it will play the sample twice BUT i only hit it once??? this realy gets **** annoying when im recording any ideas anyone thanks

hit the pad with only 1 finger. in the middle. hit the pad dont press it. meaning, once you hit the pad immediatly take your finger off of the pad instead of leaving your finger there.

i do hit it.... it just double plays when it HIT it once here and there i was wondering if this is an issue or anyone else having it or w.e. maybe its just user error?

yeah you got to get the feel of those pads man. dont be scared to hit it with more pressure. just a nice firm tap from your fingertip. Its a pad, not a button.

Learn to hit it properly, take your finger off the pad faster.

Mine does this from time to time too, but it's never been a big deal. Would suck during a live performance though!

it isn't a glitch though , you just have to know how to hit the pad properly.... unless the XL has a problem that the 2000 classic does not.. i have the 2000 so i don't know that for sure.

its normal. sometimes if you hit it with two fingers each finger with trigger the sound if they are not hitting the pad at the exact same time.

yeah it can sound twice and thats vibe of the 2kxl - i agree you need to practice on the pads (you might want to do this anyway, yeah...). one thing no one has mentioned here: make it work for you. if you make it work for you, this can be a cool feature

I notice this a lot with soft/old/worn pads. I think that old pad sensors can be a culpret as well, but yes, there is quite the bounce required on these types of pads.

Really, for $20 or $25, you should prolly buy a set of pads if it's that bad.

Everytime I get an older MPC, or any older gear for that matter, the first thing I do is open it up. (And every MPC gets new pads)

Have a can of Compressed Air handy, Deoxit Gold, some alchohol, not booze tho , (Preferably denatured as upposed to rubbing alchohol which will leave residue),

Some Q Tips (Quality ones that aren't all fuzzy and strandy), and I deoxit all the PBNO's (Buttons), all connector contacts, etc.

So often, things are jacked because of bad connections, this can go for the Pad Sensor contacts (My buddies 2KXL lost it's entire top row, cleaned it and has been perfect for 6 months),

Screen, all buttons, power connections, etc. (Any slide in ribbon connections are especially crucial, for some reason they seem to corrode easily, and RAM contacts, same kind of thing)

(Careful with the contacts to the screen itself.) I wouldn't screw with that one unless absolutely necessary, but cable to the mainboard yes.

I had a ASR-X that would power up brown (Lacking power, dim screen, glitchy, barely functional, etc). A good cleaning and she feels like new.
