(I'm using OS2XL BTW)

I finally took the time to try JJ's Pattern Mode, and I'm astounded at how well it works. That shift timing row... it works so money, I've never seen anything quite like it.

Anyway, I have some one bar patterns programmed in a sequence, that I really like and want to save as Line Patterns. Is there anyway to bring a pattern from the grid edit into the pattern edit window, so I can save it?

I think I read in another post, quite a while ago how to do this, but I can't remember... If you do figure this out, please share.

NYM! Where are you? I feel like the president in Superman 2, when Supe turns in to C. Kent somewhat permanantly, and finds out what a bitchmade punk he really is... I don't mean your a punk Nym! We need you to come back and promise you will never leave again...

I never found a way. It seems like an oversight, kind of goofy.

From grid mode, I can press VIEW and then bam, that bar of my sequence is shown as a pattern... It's excellent. But if I press PATERN (lol), it doesn't bring in the data. I actually had to reprogram the bar into the Pattern screen before I could save it!

I believe it would make more sense to eliminate the View screen, since it's exactly the same as Pattern mode. Then we can just have Pattern mode bring in the data from your sequence for editing, and get rid of some redundancy.

i can't really help as i don't use pattern mode much. for those of us using double time resolution, pattern mode is too "narrow" to use - you know how pattern mode lets you view 1 bar at a time? when you use doubletime resolution, it only allows you to work on .5 bar at a time, which is too small a time for me to work with.

Sorry to bring this back... same question. I thought I read that someone was importing sequence data into Pattern Edit. Note sure where though. Anyone?

not possible. you have to program directly in pattern edit to save it as a pattern.

you probably got confused with LOOP EDIT: hit WINDOW in GRID EDIT & your already written pattern is there ready to be tweaked... but you can't then save that as one of your 99 available patterns.

it would be cool if JJ could just merge the 2 functions. they are pretty much the same thing anyway. LOOP EDIT just needs a SAVE AS PATTERN tab!

thats not true as once you have input a few notes by whatever method, using use the view option in loop edit then takes you into pattern edit and shows the notes - these can then be saved as pettern 1 to 99. i have already added to the bug thread, because it seems that tune also get saved, even though pattern edit no longer shows the value of tune

ah, cool. this must be in 2xl? i'm still using 2.

hmmm... wonder if he could implement this in os 2?

i'll just let him bugfix it in xl before requesting it in 2.

Rara-- I think it was your Bug report that made me think of this. Would you mind giving me exact directions to import user sequencing data into Pattern Edit??
