Do you need a mixer when using a turntable?

Please help! Two questions actually. Do you need a mixer for your turntable with the 4000. And how do i change sounds from "note off" "poly" and "mono" .....i cant find that feature. I have samples that dont play out because the sounds as if the are on "note off" unless i hold the pad down.

1.about the turntable,read this thread,but in short it only accepts phono(not amped) level singals going into the RCA inputs,so no,ya dont need a mixer.

2.you can either set each pad with a different poly,setting or the whole prgram.

the set each pad,go to the program page,F2>kgmix,F3Pitch,then change poly to 1(mono) or as desired,

to set the entire program go to the program page,F1 list,F3 misc,
midi section polyhonic notes to 1 or as desired.

You can set playmode for samples(zones) in the zone page as well as sample page.

and set play triggers for pads by moving the cursor to highlight a note number in the one of the program pages and pushing the window key(orange one).

Does this apply to a VCR since it's not amplified? or should I run it with RCA to 1/4 inch adapters into the LINE IN for sampling?

Or am I wrong about VCR signals not being amplified?

you can run a VCR straight into it with the connections you mentioned.

unless you have a powered combo unit (with amp built into your VCR) it's not an amped signal. just adjust the gain and you'll be fine.
