I'd like to see some improvements in synth mode,it would be great if we could use samples and then adjust it and play with it the way we want it like in reason/cubase.
Being able to preview patches before load them.
I'd like to see key-group add on, more effects a q-link improved.
Assign samples by alphabetical order instead of going through 100 of samples. For example if you assign sample 1 to pad #1 sample 2 should tap a way not to go though them all again. We should be able to access the ram via usb.
1. Samples are chopped/edited first and then you trun them into a patched phrase. Why do you need to reslice a patched phrase?
2. What additional benefits do you receive by placing samples in a synth program? I wasn't aware you can add your own samples into Reason's Subtractor synth.
3. I don't think (could be wrong though) that the MPC 5K was built with this in mind. It was built for data transfer from hard drives and may not be possible.
1 well i know that, when you have a long sample it would be better to chop it after you patched phrase.but no big deal.
2 On synth mode would be helpful if could browser patches not samples my bad, like when you looking for right bass you gotta load it takes a lot of time to find the one that goes with beat in progress by the time you find the right one you don't feel making beat anymore.
i also want to add some features from jj os i like
real time timestretch/pitch shift
program for musical instruments
global program edit
grid edit midi/qlink/drum-6 pad mode/16pad mode and grid edit loop mode
bit convert
Program pad mode(TRIM)
16/24/32bit(not on jjos but would be good to have)
1. I am curious to hear exactly what you want the patched phrased function to work and how it benefits you.
2. This can be added in an OS update. At/near the top of my most important feature requests.
3. Real time pitched shift in the JJ OS is nice, but you can't use it on samples already in memory. For this reason, it was just a gimmick for me. I just used the pitch shift function in sample edit menu. Realtime timestretch in the JJ OS doesn't work outside of that special play mode. You really can't do anything with it. But you still can timestretch offline in sample edit mode.
4. Program for musical instruments are cool but I don't want it the way JJ does it. It is too limited. S series samplers (and even the MPC 4000) are good examples how this function should perform.
5. Yes for global program edit!
6. I never used this much when I used the JJ OS in the 2500. I will have to take a closer look at this.
7. Bit convert. The 5K can export 24 bit hard disk tracks and the Decimator in the effects section that can be used to convert bits. But having a seperate Bit Convert function would be cool. Adding a sample rate conveter would also be a nice touch. Older Akai samplers have these functions.
8. Love this function!
9. 5K can import these files. It will convert them to 16 bit. It will also load samples at any sample rate but not convert them.
